Convert a screenshot to editable text

Use Screenshot to Text for interface labels, error messages, captions, and text that cannot be selected. Crop private or unrelated regions before upload, but retain enough surrounding interface context to understand which label, field, or action the recognized text belongs to.

Private by design. Files are processed in temporary storage and removed when processing finishes. Avoid sensitive uploads when online processing is not appropriate.

A focused route for text the interface will not let you select

Copy interface labels, captions, notes, and error messages from screenshots while protecting unrelated private information.

OCR.now social preview for Screenshot to Text with a source-specific recognition workflow

A focused workflow for text that cannot be selected directly. It prioritizes privacy-aware cropping and exact review of technical punctuation.

The page is designed around small interface regions, where exact punctuation and accidental exposure of unrelated names, messages, or credentials matter.

Improve the source with Online OCR Privacy Checklist Before You Upload, then check the next likely failure with Cropping Borders and Background Noise Before OCR. If your file or required result differs, compare PNG to Text and Form to JSON.

Crop private context without removing meaning

Crop private notifications and unrelated panels.

Error-message capture review

For an application error, crop to the dialog while keeping its title and the action that triggered it. Compare every path separator, line number, and error code with the screenshot before searching or sharing the text. Remove user names and access tokens that do not belong in the report.

When native copy, logs, or accessibility text is better

Copy the message directly when the interface permits it. Use local OCR or an approved support workflow when the capture includes credentials, customer records, private conversations, or other information that cannot be safely isolated.
